As of recently we've had our head down and buried in working and improving ourselves and the brand we all love. Within this process, we've seen so many different levels of advancement and we think a huge part of that is because we aren't talking anymore. We're judging ourselves solely based off of results and nothing else. We've stepped away from always announcing our goals, to focusing more on accomplishing them, making an impact and letting the results speak for us, and believe us when we say this... There's no better feeling. So below are a few things we want you to look out for that we felt gives hustlers like yourself "fake dopamine hits," which is ultimately what can keep you stagnant. Hopefully you can replace these with actual work like we did:
Publicly announcing your goals.
- Announcing your goals or consistently talking about them to people and always saying what you're "going to do" is ultimately tricking your unconscious mind into thinking you've actually done those things. The excitement you get from talking about it is the dopamine you should be using to actually put forth effort. Channel that energy into actual work and watch the results pour in.
Paying too much attention to compliments and praise.
- It's ok to listen to feedback and if you get compliments in the process on how dope or talented you are, that's fine, but don't let it go to your head. This can make you feel like you are qualified to relax, when in fact, you more than likely aren't. Dom Kennedy once said "Don't let the compliments go to your head and the losses go to your heart." He wasn't lying at all.
Being the smartest in your circle.
- If you're the smartest in your circle, those around you will never challenge your ideas/beliefs, which leads you to having hella blindspots in this business game or even in life overall. Get around some people that will challenge your thoughts and ideas every time you ask them for feedback. Nobody can benefit from having a "YES" man, that just leads you to destruction.
All we want is for our supporters to excel, which is why we hold ourselves accountable each day and give the knowledge we test and run across so that we can all win. Only here at YV.
